THE NUTS AND BOLTS 

 

FAST, RELIABLE INTERNET
The office has hard-wired (Ethernet) connections as well as access to WiFi throughout the building. Downstream speed is 180-200 MB and upstream up to 22 MB. If you need a private line we can arrange that for you and as we grow we expect to be able to offer an even better service.

CONFERENCE ROOM
Our conference room seats up to 10 people comfortably and can be hired on a full day or half date rate. Let us know what you need in advance and we will organise your refreshments.

ENGINE HOUSE MEMBERSHIP
Connect with other members through our Facebook page. You can ask questions, share news, invite others to events, find out which service providers are available for a chat this week or order a curry when we organise lunch from local suppliers.

FURNITURE
My Desks and Private Offices include desks, chairs, and lockers. There are also several break out areas with comfy sofas and places to chat.

PRINTING/COPYING/SCANNING
Levels 1 and 2 have access to a multi-function copier/scanner/printer. You will be given a job code to enter into the copier and will be billed on a monthly basis for your copies (daily for one-off hot desk users).

AMENITIES AND EXTRAS
Each floor will have at least one shower so if you’ve just come off a flight and need to spruce up, we’ve got you covered. You can buy stationery supplies from our reception or organise post, couriers, taxis and just about anything else you need (within reason of course).

COMMUNITY
The Engine has two Facebook pages – The Engine House is open to anyone who is interested in finding out more about us and Engine Works is for anyone who has a membership. With the concentration of media related business in the building we actively encourage you to get to know each other as who knows what exciting opportunities may come about from a quick conversation in the brew room?

The Engine is a community of media professionals. Meet and connect with like-minded people and companies at our events.

 

WHAT MEMBERSHIP PLANS DO YOU OFFER?

 

MY DESK 
An assigned desk space in a large open area or enclosed office shared with other members. This dedicated space comes with a locker for your personal belongings. Desktops may be set up and left overnight. You have 24/7 access via keycard and can take advantage of all of the facilities on Levels 1 and 2.

You can organise events in the Workbench area, book our boardroom facilities free of charge for internal meetings (subject to availability), invite your external business contacts to The Engine House for meetings in the office at your desk or use the breakout areas and for larger meetings, you can use the boardroom at our competitive daily or half daily rates. Reception is generally covered from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

HOT DESK 
A shared workspace in a common area. When you purchase a Hot Desk, there is no need to reserve a particular workspace in advance each day; you can come and go as needed and use any available desk. We have a quiet area for you to use when you need to concentrate too. You will have access to the building from 8.30am to 7.00pm Monday to Friday (and at weekend by prior arrangement) and use of all of the facilities in the Workbench area. You can also rent a locker for £15 a month.

You can organise events in the Workbench café, invite your external business contacts to The Engine House for meetings in the office at your hot desk or in the Workbench area and you can book also the boardroom at our competitive daily or half daily rates.

WORKBENCH MEMBERSHIP 
This plan includes access to our Facebook Member Network, events and services and access from 8.30am to 5.00pm. You can use the facilities to have 1 to 1 business meetings in a professional environment and can also invite non-members to The Engine House for meetings (for fire safety purposes please sign guests in at reception). You can also upgrade if you need a hot desk at a daily rate.

MY OFFICE
A fully enclosed, lockable office charged by floor space. This is your own area which you can kit out to your own specification. Please contact Jane or Eric for more information.

 

HOW DOES IT WORK?

 

DO ALL MEMBERSHIPS BEGIN ON THE 1ST OF THE MONTH?
Hot Desk and Workbench plans begin the day you sign up and are billed monthly. Private Office and My Desk membership plans begin on the 1st of the month. Our one-calendar month move-out policy requires move out on the last day of the month for Private Offices and My Desks, allowing new members to move in on the 1st of the month. If this day lands on a weekend, arrangements will be made accordingly.

ARE YOUR MEMBERSHIPS REALLY MONTH-TO-MONTH?
Absolutely. After your initial 3 month sign up, our flexible month-to-month commitment provides you with the stability of an office along with the flexibility you need to grow your business. WHEN IS THE BUILDING OPEN?
The Engine House staff are generally onsite between 9.00am – 5.00pm time Monday through Friday. For members with My Desks, or Private offices, you can access The Engine House by key card 24/7. The building is monitored by CCTV and is alarmed for security. You will be given instructions on how to set and unset the alarm.

DO I NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A LOOK AROUND?

WHAT IF MY COMPANY NEEDS PHONE SERVICE?
Phone service is currently only available for Private Offices. Unlimited domestic VoIP phone service is available for purchase for an additional fee per user. Calls will be recharged at cost.

WHAT ABOUT PRINTING?
On becoming a member of The Engine House on a My Desk or Hot Desk basis you will be assigned a job code for printing and will be billed monthly. As a Workbench member, if you need any printing you can ask reception who will be happy to run out your documents on a pay as you go basis.

WHAT DO I DO ABOUT POST?
If you need to post a letter you can leave it at Reception and our lovely receptionist will pop it in the post for you. If you don’t have a stamp we can sort that out for you too.

The Isle of Man Post Office offer a mail opening service where they will open and scan your post to you under a secure contract. Please ask for further information. We also have a courier account with DHL for anything urgent. This will be recharged to your account.

HOW DO I RESERVE A CONFERENCE ROOM, HOT DESK OR BREAKOUT AREA?
You can make a reservation for a conference room or a break out area through reception between 9.00am – 5.00pm weekdays.
For conference room reservations, we have a first-come, first-served policy and recommend making a reservation as early as possible to guarantee availability. However, external meetings will take priority over internal meetings and you may be asked to make other arrangements for internal meetings in such cases.

CAN I BOOK A CONFERENCE ROOM/WORKSPACE AT THE WEEKEND?
Yes, you can book these spaces at the weekend but you will need to make your own arrangements for refreshments if you are having a meeting.

DO I HAVE TO RESERVE A HOT DESK BEFORE COMING INTO WORK?
No, but in order to ensure our members have the best possible experience, and to guarantee availability, it’s helpful you reserve a workspace at least one hour before you plan on coming into work.

I NEED TO LEAVE MY STUFF – CAN I HAVE A LOCKER?
My Desk members have a locker included in their package price. If you have a Hot Desk you can rent a locker on a monthly basis for £15 + VAT. Workbench members can rent a locker at a daily rate of £2 per day.

HOW DO I REGISTER MY GUESTS?
To register guests, please email their details to [email protected] or call into reception.

CAN MY FRIEND USE MY MEMBERSHIP?
Whilst guests are welcome to visit you at your desk your membership is personal to you. The most efficient way for a guest to make use of our spaces on an ad hoc basis is to sign up for a Workbench membership and to hire hot desk space at a daily rate.

I’M READY TO SIGN UP! WHAT ARE MY PAYMENT OPTIONS?
When you apply for any of our membership options we require 3 months up-front payment. Once the 3 months is up you then pay from month to month by standing order.

WHEN DO I HAVE TO DO TO LET THE ENGINE KNOW I’M MOVING OUT?
Hot Desk, My Desk and My Office members are required to give one-calendar month notice to move out. Just let us know in writing by the last business day of the month prior to vacating. For example, if a member wants to move out on 31st August they need to give notice by 31st July. There are no prorated refunds issued for cancellations of Hot Desk and My Desk membership plans.

Workbench members can terminate their membership with immediate effect but no refunds will be made. Any members who have not paid their subscription by the 10th of the month will have their membership automatically terminated.

MY COMPANY HAS GROWN OUT OF ITS CURRENT SPACE. CAN THE ENGINE PROVIDE SPACES FOR TEAMS LARGER THAN 10 PEOPLE?
Yes! The Engine House team is not just about providing you space – we provide support for all your business needs and will help you to find a suitable space for your needs. Talk to Eric or Jane for more information.

ARE THERE CHARGES FOR LATE FEES?
The Engine charges a late fee of 10% of the outstanding invoice for payments we haven’t received by the 10th day of the month.

WHAT ARE THE ADDITIONAL FEES PRINTING, ETC.?
• Black & White printing (per sheet printed – single sided): £0.05 GBP
• Color printing (per sheet printed – single sided): £0.20 GBP
• Keycard or Alarm Fob Replacement Fee: £25.00 GBP

MY WORKBENCH / HOT DESK MEMBERSHIP IS INACTIVE. CAN I REACTIVATE MY MEMBERSHIP?
